Creating an Active West London through Sport and Physical Activity

London 2012

London 2012

The West London Alliance on behalf of the West London 2012 Partnership has been awarded £240,000 by the London Development Agency, to deliver a series of events across West London, to engage our communities with the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

The West London Partnership for the 2012 Games has been working with the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG), the London Development Agency (LDA) and the Greater London Authority (GLA) to support the Games and has produced a 2012 action plan which demonstrates how they intend to do this.

PRO-ACTIVE West London is leading on the aspects of this plan that will increase participation in sport.

Initially, key areas of focus will be:-

• Delivering the Mayors legacy plan ‘A Sporting Future for London’

• Street Games – an estate based sports programme for young people

• Maximising the legacy from other key sporting events in West London, such as the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2010 and the Badminton World Cup in 2011

• Research into free swimming programmes provided by the local authorities

PRO-ACTIVE West London, in partnership with the West London Alliance and Brunel University has appointed a West London 2012 Officer to support the work of the key partners in the West London Partnership for the 2012 Games.
